Introduction

The Friends of Fulbourn Nature Reserve was set up in Spring 2000. The aim of the society is to promote enjoyment of and care for the Fulbourn Educational Nature Reserve. The reserve is one of the finest small nature reserves in Cambridgeshire, combining several distinct habitats in a small area and playing host to many rare species of plant. There is woodland, wetland, scrub and meadow. Much of the meadowland is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and has never been ploughed or subjected to herbicides, pesticides or fertilisers.

The reserve is owned by the Townley family, the owners of the Fulbourn Manor Estate. The Estate has established permissive footpaths through the area. The reserve is managed by the Cambridgeshire Wildlife Trust.

This Web Site

At the moment all you will find here is some articles from the Mill, Fulbourn's Parish magazine (which contain contact and other information) and a contact form, which you are encouraged to fill in if you would like to be kept informed about the reserve. In the fullness of time, however, there will be many more pages, including:

  • an interactive map of the reserve
  • some pages on monitoring, including a form to fill in with your observations of the reserves
  • photographs
  • management plans
  • history
  • links to other related sites
Moreover, if there is any other information you would like to see included here then you have only to contact us and, if possible, we will respond. We are particularly keen to receive good quality photographs of the reserves (which can be returned), and recollections of the reserve in the past.
